Culture & Ceramics

Fuseta, Portugal, with Francisco Eugenio

Concept
The FUSETA collection, is designed with straight edges highlighting the red clay. Although a portion of that edge, where the lips land, has been softened. This is also where the white engobe will be poured out of the cup, following the potter’s gesture and making each piece unique. Almost as if some local warm goat milk had been poured out of it, smoothly melting that edge.

Collaboration
In Francisco Eugenio family, they have been potters for 4 generations.
He started working with clay as a kid, sneaking in his grandfather’s studio. At age 17, he left for South of France to work at renowned Ravel manufacture near Marseille. After 7 years, he comes back home in Algarve to start his own studio.
He talks about his passion for the red clay and while I discover his work and his culture comes the design of this collection.
Very open to everyone, Francisco is very happy to share to anyone who is curious and ready to exchange.
